Happy Birthday... TO ME!

We'll I'm 22 today. Birthdays don't really matter after 21 anyway (until yo turn 65 at least). I know I'm getting older because I asked for practical gifts. From Dean all I wanted was a really good hair dryer with a diffuser. I have curly hair that is a pain to keep from frizzing and with winter approaching I need to dry my hair from now on so maybe this will help. My ILs gave me money to get a griddle, box grater, and new wind shield wipers. Dean and I aren't really big on birthdays. I didn't even go out on my 21st birthday. We are home bodies and enjoy vegging on the couch watching a movie. We are actually going out tonight to Famous Dave's BBQ to eat and watch the Steelers game.

We spent all day at the hospital getting my glucose tests and RhoGAM shot. My blood type is O negative, which means I can give to anyone but I can only receive O negative blood. The reason I had to get the shot was because if Noah's blood type is anything except O negative my body could develop antibodies against any future pregnancies we might have. The RhoGAM hurts like the dickens! I am usually good with shots and needles but this needle was thick and the nurse gave it too high so she hit a nerve. For an hour I felt like I hit my funny bone.

All and all not a bad birthday so far. I got to spend all morning and afternoon with Dean, we're going to eat BBQ tonight, and my boys are amazing! What more could a girl ask for?

Shower #3

We had our 3rd and final shower on October 24th. I know, I know... that was weeks ago but I have so not been in the mood to blog. My mom (Left: Tonya) and MIL (Right: Denise) did such an amazing job. My Aunt Tammy made the candles everyone got to take home and my grandma made the amazing vegetable beef soup and chicken noodle soup. We had soup, sandwiches, cookies, and cake. Everyone seemed to enjoy the it. Nothing better on a fall day than soup... especially homemade soup. I'm really lucky to still have all my grandparents and Noah will have great-grandparents from my side. This is 4 (almost) generations. My mom came up with the idea for the decorations even though I wanted a blue/stork/pacifier shower (inside joke). The joke is: We had a blue and champagne colored wedding shower so my mom has stuff still left over from that she could have used but I didn't want a typical baby boy blue shower. SOOOO my mom and I got on some shower idea websites together (320 miles apart via phones and amazing synchronizing) and found the cute pumpkin idea because the week after was Halloween and it was different. The weeks leading up to the shower my mom, and everyone else for that matter, kept telling me I was having a blue/stork/pacifier shower. Boo Boo spilled the beans and told me I wasn't (hehehe). What can I say? The kid adores her big sister. Speaking of sisters... these are my 2 sisters: Boo Boo (Brooke 7) in the middle and Katie (20). Boo Boo is called that because let's just say she was a bit of a surprise, an accident if you will, so I call her Boo Boo. She doesn't know the reason behind it so it's OK and it stuck so we just go with it. People used to ask if she was my daughter when I'd take her places because well #1 I am old enough to be her mother (15 year difference and let's face it... it happens) and #2 we both look the same and have the same chipmunk cheeks, curly brown hair and brown eyes. Katie on the other hand; we couldn't be more different. She is shorter (I had flats on and she had heals in this picture), blond hair, completely different facial structure, and I always excelled at sports and she always had good grades (I wasn't dumb just lazy as heck). Any way those are my sisters.
Back to the shower. We received soooooo many gifts. We packed light and even took the big car and still couldn't bring it all home with us. After the shower was over we had to separate everything into two piles: #1. things we would need if he came tomorrow/cool things we want to play with and #2. thing that can wait to come down with the ILs in November for Turkey Day. The shower was amazing over all and it was so nice to see everyone that came to it. I enjoyed getting to talk to people I probably haven't seen since our wedding 2 1/2 years ago... DANG has it been that long already?

Why can't I live by the ocean?

We spent a wonderful week in Garden City, SC from Sept. 25th- Oct. 2nd. I know I'm really late but I have not been in the mood to blog at all. The beach was fun but it rained the whole time. It only stayed dry for 2 days. One night it rained so hard, it was coming through the seams of the door. I'm not much of an ocean person (the beach is another question) anyway so it was nice to just hang out with the family and enjoy some time with Dean before peanut gets here.
If it was only raining a little my dad, Dean, and Chris still went out in the ocean.
We got to see and do a lot despite the crappy weather. We went to Broadway at the Beach, Ripley's Aquarium, Barefoot Landing, Dixie Stampede (FYI this is it's last year), Alligator Adventure and a lot of cool restaurants.

We also got a new member of the family. I am proud to introduce, Turtle the turtle! I know he looks like he's going to rip your face off but he's actually only 3 inches big.

Shower #2

Shower #2 was a success. The best part: FOOD! What can I say? I love food. I got so much stuff but I just had fun getting to see my family and talking with all of them. The best gift I got was WVU onesies from my cousins Colleen and Sam. I know I'm from Ohio but I have always been a WVU fan. I'm just an OSU fan by marriage. We did something different. Instead of cards, I asked everyone to give a book and sign it. What happens when you get a card? You read it once and throw it away. Most cards are between $3-$5 which is RIDICULOUS! You can get a small book for the same price which can be read to Noah over and over.

Baby Shower #1

I had my first of 3 baby showers this weekend. It was here in Virginia for my friends. My mom, step-dad, and little sister Brooke came down for it to help out. We served my mom's homemade chicken salad on croissants, veggies w/ dip, fruit w/ dip, cheese & crackers, Chinese tea cookies my MIL got for me, and cake. There wasn't too many people. We had about 10 all together and DID NOT play any games. I hate going to showers and being forces to play dumb games... BLAHH. They are just not for me.

We went with an owl/orange and green theme taken from the invites I had made.
I got so many wonderful gifts from all my friends here. If I had Noah tomorrow I can honestly say I would be prepared. There are things I would like to have but I have all the bare necessities. I still need my cloth diapers but I'm going to use infant diapers for the first month because I have read the fit is not good on a newborn depending on their size. Don't get me wrong I would still love lots of nice things for Noah but we could get by for a week or so if we absolutely had to.

Dean went to his friend Adams house to watch the Ohio State vs. Miami game but came back under strict orders I wasn't allowed to open the gift from his mom without him present. Because of that, he decided to act goofy in the pictures his mom requested of him opening it. He's a smart butt (trying to stop cussing) but that's why I fell in love with him.

We head home to Ohio on Friday for shower #2 and hopefully going to our old high school's football game.

Busy week...

...and a busier month is coming up for us. This last weekend we were in Beaufort, SC to see Dean's brother graduate from Marine Corps boot camp.

It was sooo hot down there. It was 114° and 100% humidity. Dean was being a good daddy and keeping on me about drinking plenty of water.
We had a good time spending 3 days with our family: FIL Mike, MIL Denise, AIL Aunt Margie, BILs Alex and Joe, and Alex's girlfriend Malerie.

The 11th I have my shower here in Virginia. The next weekend, 18th, we go to Ohio for one of my showers there. The week after that, September 25th- October 2nd we will be on a beach in Myrtle Beach. In October we'll be heading back to Ohio for a wedding and my 3rd and final shower.

Aug 21, 2010

Aww wook at da wittle baby!

We got our stroller in the mail the other day. It's from Dean's parents. We tried it out with our fur kid Killer. It works really well. Hopefully Noah likes it better than Killer does.

Nusery

I've had a really busy week with lots of company coming and going. My mom came down and bought us the crib and changing table. The whole time I had myself convinced I wanted a lifetime crib but when I thought about it, we'll probably be having another baby by the time Noah will grow out of a toddler bed and will need the crib again instead of turning it into a full sized bed. The crib we got goes from crib to toddler bed and the changing table turns into a twin headboard.

My little sister, Brooke, organized the closet for me.

This is one of the sheets my mom got for us and the football Dean bought for Noah.

Stop your boo-hooing!

I'm tired of whining. I picked my self off the couch and baked a damn pie... and boy was it good! I ate half of it and I don't feel bad one damn bit. Sometimes it just feels so good to be bad. Oh I feel like shit now but it was wonderful. I know what you're all thinking, "She's pregnant! She needs to eat healthy!" Well, I hardly ever eat fast food, I eat more fruits and vegetables than the average person, and my doctor said I am on the minimum weight gain side of the graph. Soooooo... POO ON ALL OF YOU!

Aug 2, 2010

How far along? 22 weeks

Best moment this week: I saw my stomach move tonight
Movement: Mostly on my bladder
Food cravings: Fruit
Gender: Baby boy
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In but slowly coming out
Stretchmarks? Nope
What I am looking forward to: My showers coming up in the next few weeks
Weekly Wisdom: You can have too much of a good thing

OOUUCCCHHHHHH!!! (this crap is getting old)

When you go to the doctor and the ask, "On a scale of 1-10, what's you're pain right now?" The only thing that ever came close was when my wonderful husband slammed my fingers in the car door just hours after he proposed to me. Well I now know what a REAL 10 is.

Yesterday I took a nap in the evening (like I always do), got up to go pee (like I always do anymore), and I hit the floor. I felt a pain in my side like I'd never felt before. I screamed my head off. It was a solid minute of straight anguish! I still ached a little after but it wasn't horrible. I'd been having a lot of back pain from Noah being so low for the last week so I just thought he hit another nerve. Dean did a big taboo thing with me and looked up symptoms online. UGHHH! He started getting worried I had or was having a miscarriage. He got me worried because I hadn't felt him move since about 3 that afternoon and it was now after 8. He told me he was taking me to the labor & delivery at Fort Belvoir. As soon as I walked in the door I was instantly rushed into a room and put on the monitor. Once again Noah was hiding very low and it was hard for the nurse to get him on the monitor. The silence was killing me and I could see the worry on Dean's face. I heard a 'swoosh" and knew that was him moving and then heard the best sound in the world; his precious heartbeat. The nurse left and kept me on the monitor. As soon as she walked out the door, Dean and I both broke down and cried. Tears of joy poured down our cheeks.

They ran some tests to find out what was wrong with me. Turns out I had a kidney stone. My dad had had one some years back, I of course told him to stop being a baby and never thought it could happen to me. WRONG! They actually told me I had too much calcium in my system. Between the Tums Plus Calcium for my acid reflux that I pop like candy daily, my prenatal vitamins, and the gallon of milk we go through every couple of days I guess it was just all too much. The NP said to stay on the couch and rest for a couple of days, cut back on the milk, and drink WATER WATER WATER!

Noah is fine and has been VERY active all night (that's why it's 2:30 I'm still up).

Jul 29, 2010

OUCH (again)

Peanut is hanging out really low and it's hurting my back so much! I didn't sleep last night, instead Killer and I chilled in the baby's room all night playing some pretty exciting rounds of sudoku. I still can hardly move. It hurts to sit, hurts to stand, hurts to lay down. It's only on the right side. I dont know if he's sitting a a nerve or what but this SUCKS! I'm over being pregnant. I just want my baby here.

Jul 25, 2010

OOUUCCHH!

I just learned I can't move in the ways I used too. I was sitting on the counter top reading Dean a recipe for chocolate chip Heath bar cookies (which turned out amazing and this is coming from someone who does not like chocolate). I jumped off to get a measuring cup and felt the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. It almost had me drop to my knees. I've been having pains the last couple of days but they don't last for more than a few seconds but boy did it SUCK! Dr. Daddy put me on couch rest for the remainder of the day but that makes the bursitis in my hips act up. I swear, I just can't win.

Jul 19, 2010

IT'S A BOY!

We're having a precious little baby boy. I am so excited! Well we both are actually. Poor Dean had to go to the hospital with me with his cast on his nose. He was so happy, but every time he smiled the stitches in his nose would pull and he'd be in intense pain. Oh I can't wait to go register this weekend for all the cute boy things. The lady checked his spine, organs, and heart . She said everything looked great and the baby appears healthy and VERY active. His feet are right on top of my bladder which he constantly jumps on.
We go tomorrow to my actual doctors appointment and Dean goes to get his tubes and stitches out of his nose. I'm going to ask her about maybe having acid reflux and my dizzy spells. Wish us luck!

Jul 18, 2010

HALF TIME!

Tomorrow is the big day! We'll be 20 weeks and find out if we're having a boy or girl. I can't believe it's half time already. The whole time I've wanted to know the sex but now I'm not so sure. Dean definitely wants to know though so I guess we will find out. It will be a surprise now just as much as when it's born. We both hope for a healthy baby but if we could choose: A BOY! Dean being a guy of course wants a boy. I however come from a long line a girls. My grandmother had 2 girls, they (my mother and aunt) both had girls and my aunt's daughter has a baby girl. My aunt had 2 girls and my mom had 3. It's a curse... one that I had to break. I love my family but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We need some testosterone in the mix. I went to Babies R Us with my MIL and BIL's girlfriend this weekend. The clothes for not just the is beyond cute. It all looks like stuff you could wear just smaller. I bought a hoodie that has a peace sign on it and a teddy bear hooded fleece pram. Quick explanation of the pram: Since Dean is a couch rest from his surgery, we've been watching a lot of movies. Thursday we watched Star Wars IV, V,& VI. In the last movie the little bear looking things a cute as can be and I kept telling Dean I wanted a baby one and name it Chub Chub. So now the baby's nickname is Chub Chub because it's going to look like a Ewok in it's outfit.
I'm very excited about tomorrow! Dean says he doesn't care what we have as long as it's a boy. I know he'll love whatever is growing in my belly it's just a guy thing to want boys.

Jul 17, 2010

Crazy Week

Last week was crazy busy for us. First of all Dean had a septoplasty and rhinoplasty to correct some breathing problems he's been having. This was Wednesday and he is so miserable. He's not in any pain but the pressure from the tubes that are temporarily in his nose are driving him CRAZY! I know how miserable I am when I have sinus pressure and this is 10x worse. Poor bubs :(
Also the state of Virginia says we owe then almost $3,000 in unpaid taxes. Because Dean is in the military, he gets to claim our home state of Ohio on his taxes and so do I. I worked in VA so I had to claim VA as my state. No big deal we did all that. However....... 2 years ago we filed "married filing jointly" instead of "married filing separately". We had no idea, it was our first year of marriage so we just went along with what the guy was saying. (Side note: Marines are great at fighting... not so good at doing your taxes) So even though Ohio already took out the taxes from his wages, Virginia also wants us to pay because we filed wrong. It's such a headache! We are working with VA to get this removed. We'll see what happens..........

Bye-Bye Belly?

What the heck happened to my belly? One day I had a belly and the next it's gone. Last week I couldn't fit into any of my 4's and now i fit back into them. I could almost believe there isn't a baby in there anymore but I know there is from all the constant bladder bouncing that's going on in there. Maybe I'm not pregnant at all, maybe there is a parasite that is just stealing all my energy, doesn't allow me to sleep, and makes me have all the symptoms of pregnancy. It's crazy but what can you do. I'm in my 5th month and hardly anything. My sister was here last week and said I didn't look pregnant, just chubby. Wow thanks Katie!

2 Wonderful Years

Yesterday was our 2 year anniversary. We got to do exactly what we wanted to do ALL day. We sat on the couch and relaxed. I slept for most of the day and Dean played video games. We had such a busy day in DC the day before, we just wanted to chill out! In a way, the fireworks are our anniversary celebration each year.We didn't give each other gifts but I did receive the best gift. I felt the baby kick last night! It was the weirdest and coolest feeling in the world. I can't wait for Dean to feel it too.

Jul 2, 2010

It's only a couple blocks away...

These are my famous last words. Yesterday I took my sister and her boyfriend to Arlington and DC. We parked at Arlington because trying to park in DC in close to impossible. We toured Arlington first and saw the changing of the guard, the tomb of the unknown soldier, and JFK and Jacki O's grave site. We went back to the visitors center so Mikey could find Audie Murphy's grave site. He's the Army's version of Chesty Puller. We left the car there and hopped on the Metro to see what else DC had in store for us. We saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial. If you look at a map, these places are only a few blocks away but it's definitely not close at all. Mikey wanted to see the White House so we walked another 3 blocks to the front of the White House. After we saw the White House, we trucked it another 3 blocks back to the Metro station. We hopped back on the train to Arlington. It's was a good day over all. Although I was exhausted by the end of it.

Monthly Survey (a little early)

My sister and her boyfriend are coming to visit this week so I doubt I'll have time to post anything so I'm going to do this now before I forget. Plus my computer decided to never turn on again last week and hubby is getting upset because I'm always on his. He never says he's upset, just keeps asking every 5 minutes in the sweetest voice, "Are you done yet?" Bless him. He's such a sweetie!

How far along?

BeanBoozled

In WIlliamsburg we found a candy we used to use for a drinking game with our friend Ben. The candy is Jelly Belly's BeanBoozled. The concept of the candy is 10 colored beans. Each color has 2 flavors. One is a normal flavor of there's and the other is a gross flavor. An example is: if you get a green one it could be juicy pear or booger. It's impossible to know which one you are getting because they have no smell and the bad ones look like the good ones. Below is a video I took of Dean being the guinea pig.

Vacation to Williamsburg

We went away this weekend for our two anniversary, which is actually July 5th. Dean has to work next Saturday so we took advantage of the time we had and took off Saturday morning. Williamsburg is only 2 hours south of us (without traffic). It took us about 2 1/2 hours to get there. We dropped off Killer at the hotel, changed into comfortable shoes and headed for the visitors center to get our tickets. I was going to buy them online but I didn't know if they gave a military discount (I ask everywhere we go). Thankfully they did. I very good discount... FREE! You can walk around Williamsburg for free and visit the shops but if you want to tour the historical sights you have to get a pass. Also the don't allow you to drive in the town so you either walk or get the pass which includes a shuttle. I had breakfast before we left but it was past lunchtime when we got to the Governors Palace. Let's just say between the 110 degree weather and low blood sugar I barely made it through the 30 minute tour conscious. We ate after and I was fine.

They have fun things planned throughout the year. While we were there, the red coats (the Britsh soldiers for those of you who don't know your Revolutionary War history) were occupying the town. If they captured you, you had to say "Queen Charlotte" for them to release you. Luckily we weren't captured.

Overall it was a good time. Dean would like to go back a couple more times this year and hopefully take the baby there too next summer.

Biggest Scare of my Life

I had my 2nd of many prenatal visits today. Dean couldn't get off work to go so I made this trip North by myself. I have a really nice nurse practitioner named Mrs. Roohr. Because we have wonderful government/military, I don't get to see a doctor unless I'm dying and oh here's the kicker: I'll meet the doctor that will deliver my baby for the first time, the day I deliver. I wasn't supposed to get an ultrasound this appointment, it was just for me to get weighed and listen to the baby on the Doppler. I laid back on the the table was ready to hear my baby but all I heard was a gargling sound but I thought it was the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel from McDonald's I scarfed down in the car right before I went in. (Side note: McDonald's breakfast is my weakness.) I was kind of scared when I didn't hear anything for a good minute. Then she asked me the scary question, "Have you had any cramping or bleeding?" There was only one reason I thought she would be asking that question, maybe I had lost the baby. After about 10 seconds of silent panic she asking if I could hear the bubbling noise. It turns out the baby was swimming away from the Doppler and that was the noise I heard in the beginning. She took me to the ultrasound room to do a quick scan to get a fetal heartbeat count. I was so happy to my my little peanut squirming around on the screen. Mrs. Roohr still had trouble catching the little bugger then, but after about 6 tries we finally count a count: 150 bpm! She said that's really good and it's good that the baby is active.
she also said I need to gain a few more pounds before my next visit, like I really need a reason to eat more food. My next appointment is July 19th and we'll find out the sex then... any predictions?

OMG SHUT UP!!!

Why can't I go out back and pick money off the tree out there? I wish I had all the money in the world so I could buy all these cool things they have for kids these days. Speaking of awesomely amazing baby things, I am in love love LLOOVVEE... with this:
It
's a cool stroller from Taga that just flips over and wham, bam, thank you ma'am you have a bicycle. You could ride the bike to the store, then push the baby in the stroller when you get there, and ride the bike home. The only problem is, it cost an arm and a leg. It has a whopping cost of $1,495!
We are now accepting donations.

Officially into my 2nd Trimester

YEAH!!! I'm officially into my 2nd trimester. Good-bye nausea! So long headaches! See you never morning sickness! Well technically I never threw up but sometimes I think I would have felt better if I did. There have been a lot of physical differences. I've really "popped" out in the last couple of weeks. I'm finally starting to feel pregnant. Dean is so excited I have a baby belly now. Every morning before he leaves he kisses me and his baby. It's so sweet how excited he is about this. Today he sent me a text message that said, "I'm looking forward to raising our child with you." Needless to say I bawled like a little baby or in this case a hormonal pregnant woman. I can't wait to meet my baby. Dean says he gets to hold him or her first though because I got to the first 9 months.

Mommy?

It's a very surreal feeling being pregnant. They keep telling me I am but I just don't believe it yet. I don't really have a belly, it just looks like it does after Thanksgiving dinner. I want to have a belly and feel the baby inside me. I m anxious however and have started picking out things for the nursery. I want to be different in the decor and make it really unique.

I'm in love with this for a girl...
This picture doesn't do this justice. The material is so pretty.

Dean wants this for a boy...
We'll have plain red bedding with Ohio State Buckeye decorations.

At my 20 week appointment we'll find out what the sex is and believe me I will be decorating the nursery the next day.
